Curtain Falls

Curtain Falls

Burnished eyes faint with sorrow,
Fading and losing their glow.
These sad afflictions steal her beauty.

Hiding pain that she hid too well,
Unmentioned with no one to tell.
Internal torment taking over… (and she said):

"I will be more myself then than I am now
And when it's all over I won't have to take a bow.

"I know that I await
A sad and lonely fate (so)
I'd give it up; I'd leave it all.

"No more a slave to Time,
And everything is fine,
Just waiting for the curtain falls."

And on this stage of pretense,
Simulating a semblance,
Is where she passes all her evenings.

But once the spotlight's faded,
And the crowd has abated,
There's nothing left for her but emptiness.

"I will be more myself then than I am now
And when it's all over I won't have to take a bow.

"I know that I await
A sad and lonely fate (so)
I'd give it up; I'd leave it all.

"No more a slave to Time,
And everything is fine,
Just waiting for the curtain falls."

"I know that I await
A sad and lonely fate (so)
I'll give it up; I'll leave it all.

"Death's darkening my door,
A guest I can't ignore.
And now you've seen the curtain fall."
