Wishing Well

John Cafferty

The first time that I saw her
It was on a warm 4th of July
At a summer fair in this little seaside town
So many years gone by

With seven red roses
The petals they fell
As she carried them down
To the wishing well

The fireworks they rained thunder
As the Cajun band played it's tune
And like two gypsies we danced
Under that soft summer moon

And I remember that night
When into my arms she fell
And I carried her down
To the wishing well

*Let's marry our dreams girl
You never can tell
We'll carry them all
To the wishing well

And the years went passing by
Like so many of those dreams that I chased
Now I've seen all these world wonders
And not one could take her place

And I still remember that night
But it's just a dream to me now
That I'll carry on down
To the wishing well

Repeat*

If dreams can come true girl
You never can tell
And We'll carry them all
Down to the wishing well
