open wide your eyes
and tell me what you see
surrounded by strangers
in a waking dream
in a strange new place
where lies a body bereft
incomplete until the hour
you take your first breath

greet the blinding light
with giants at your side
two gods who've waited an
eternity for you to arrive
and in this temple
upon a linen altar
they hand the
world to you

isn't it strange
how quickly everything can change?
one day you don't consider and
the next you're wishing years away
everything else seems so small
when to the center stage you're called
both man and god are afraid, uncertain
but the play must go on

open wide your eyes
and take my hand
i'll lead you to
the promised land
a garden, a paradise
all your own
timeless and forever new
it can't be bought or owned

greet the morning light
and don't you worry
gods are made to watch
and protect
and try as they might
they cannot understand
the feeling that takes over
on a stage small and grand

isn't it strange, so strange
how quickly everything can change?
no longer men
they are gods
teaching every dreamer
dreamers teaching them
that eden is here and
all their own(x8)

but they'd give up everything
and wrap it in a box
marked a brighter day
a better day for them
on sleepless nights like this
i would lie awake and wish for a better day
for a better day
a better day
