On The Way Up

Larissa Lam

On the Way up, I met a man
While I was waiting at a taxi stand
He asked if I'd heard any interesting news
I answered "yes" and began to share the Good News
He said, "Hold on, I'm perfectly happy with my life
I've got a good job, a big house, a beautiful wife
Hard to believe, need proof or a sign
Sorry to say you can't change my mind, can't change my mind"
Then I said
Are you listening to what I say
Or are you waiting for Judgment Day?
When it's too late to return
You'll get the hardest lesson you'll ever learn

On the way up, I met a girl
When I was traveling around the world
She came and asked me if I knew the way
I replied, "yes" and told her "Jesus is the only way"
She said, " I have my way to fulfill my needs
I don't hurt anyone and I've done my share of good deeds
You can believe what you believe
All that you say won't bother me, won't bother me"
Then I said

Are you listening to what I say
Or are you waiting for Judgment Day?
When it's too late to return
You'll get the hardest lesson you'll ever learn

When you think you're in control
And afraid of letting go, you'll lose control
Lose control

Are you listening to what I say
Or are you waiting for Judgment Day?
When it's too late to return
You'll get the hardest lesson you'll ever learn
